Symptom

The draftshield won't pop open when the latch is depressed

Diagnosis

It may be dirty. Clean the edges of the scale where the draftshield (the clear item) rubs over the cover (the opaque item), with a damp towel. Do not use liquids as they may run into the scale and do lots of damage. Do not ever use acetone, as the scale will dissolve, like the Wicked Witch of the West.

Solution

If this solves the problem, you are home free. If this does not solve the problem, you must return it to us for repair.
